I sucked at blogging this week.
I have a sick son & husband @ home.
They're fine now but cheese and rice does that drain you!
So on to my title...
Every spare moment and spare dime I have I have go directly to my Husband and son.
Never to me.
Only because I feel like if I buy that thing for me, immediately my mind goes to Momma Mode:
Does Damian have enough shirts? Its cold, are his sweaters thick enough? What about diapers?
or Wife Mode:
Does he have enough socks? Did I do his laundry? What can I pack for his lunch?
My Wife/Moma Mode (we'll go Wima for short) get the best of me, I don't remember the last time I bought myself some new clothes, shoes, purse... christmas & birthdays don't count because those were given to me... but meeeee buy stuff for myselffff???? unthinkable ridonkulousness! I'm trying though .. Recently I got a Target Gift Card and spent a large portion of it on me, still spent on others but mainly me. Did I feel Selfish after? HELL YEAH! Will I do it again? NOT FOR A WHILE!!
But I've learned that sometimes we have to put US first, We're the ones holding the fort, Keeping things in line, sticking our freshly manicured nails into a toddlers nose to get s stubborn booger out, opening your husbands lunch boxes to find a container with moldy food because he forgot to take it out and let you know, attacking that crayoned wall to try and reverse time (because some of us rent ya know..).. sometimes it's perfectly OK to be selfish and demand things.
So go get those sweet Steve Madden boots, spending over $10 on Mascara? Get it girl!
at least for a day, let's just not blow our entire savings accounts k?
OH! fyi:
I signed my soul over to Weight Watchers today :)
You should never feel selfish for investing a little in you (even if the investment is $ related) Have you seen the Project: Do Me feature on my blog? I think it's something you'd be interested in -- its basically deciding and focusing on the little things you can do each day that will ultimately lead to YOUR happiness! Come on over and check it out =) I wish you a happy and productive week!
ReplyDeleteIt really is ok (even great!) to make sure that mama is ok and taken care of. It replenishes our souls and gives us the energy to keep doing those mundane daily tasks. I am proud of you! Moderation in all things...keep it up. A day late with Comment Love!
ReplyDeleteThis is very good advice. On pay day I am going to treat myself to new shoes. It's been 2 years.
ReplyDeleteOh I know what you mean! I feel bad when I buy anything - including socks and underwear!

Newest follower from Bloggy Moms. You are so right I do feel bad sometimes for buying things for myself. But we need to do things for ourselves as well and somehow feel that it is "okay" :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading more.
Would love for you to follow back :-)
